In 2007 Russell Stannard was awarded the Excellence in Teaching and Learning from the University of Westminster. This was for his work in using screen capture to provide feedback to students. The idea of using screen capture for feedback quickly caught on and Russell has presented his work all over the world.
In 2008 Russell Stannard was awarded the Times Higher Outstanding Initiative in ICT for his work on www.teachertrainingvideos.com. He beat the University of Oxford who came second with their production about the war rooms. Russell’s open approach to educational technology and his interest in OER was at the heart of the award. His website is currently receiving around 300,000 visitors a year. The following year in 2009 Russell TEFLnet.com website of the year.
In 2010 Russell Stannard was awarded the British Council ELTons in technology for his website www.teachertrainingvideos.com. Russell has gone on to do a range of different projects for the British Council including giving talks in Azerbaijan, Russia, Armenia, Chile India, China and the UK. He has also worked on large scale training programmes using on-line delivery with the Chinese Ministry of Education and the British Council.
